“We were first established in Phuket, then moved into Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Vietnam,” he adds. “We have sales and service centres in Singapore and Thailand.

“Singapore is an important hub for buyers and a major shipping port, so owners often taken delivery there, then cruise to Indonesia, Thailand and the South China Sea. An hour-and-a-half flight and you’re on your boat in Thailand, where there’s a great choice of trades.”

Over the past few years, the population of Singapore has grown considerably. “And they are the perfect demographic for boat sales,” Mark observes.

“Boating is rising in popularity, particularly post-Covid, as expats have returned home. There has been a big uptake since the pandemic, and in the new boat market people are buying bigger boats. We have had a number of sales into Singapore in 2023 and have a number of prospective customers interested in the 60 to 75-foot range.”

Imperative to Maritimo’s success in the region is “a united sales and marketing strategy and a service team to support owners”.

As Mark explains, “We have the infrastructure and the experience to support new boat buyers.”
